Seattle Week 4

We are "Home"! Ethan was discharged on Monday April 18th. We drew labs, pulled his PICC line, did an ultrasound of the PICC line pathway to check for clots, had a BiPAP mask and helmet fitting trial, picked up his medications, loaded up the van, and left the hospital at 7pm. I don't recommend discharging from the hospital that late at night, especially if you are an organized person and unorganized stuff stresses you out. It was chaos! By the time we got home not only was I exhausted but it was almost time to give meds. A big bag of 15 different medications (refrigerated and non refrigerated) and a ton of syringes thrown together was very stressful for me. Now that I have a system it's not bad but that first night was terrible! It took me 2 hours to give his meds. It also doesn't help that Ethan threw up his meds and we had to call the doctor just hours after discharge.

Bag full of medications and syringes from the pharmacy just a half hour before we left the hospital. Mom didn't have any time to organize them or familiarize herself with what was what. Just grab and go.
The first full day home was WONDERFUL!! It was in the 70s outside so we spent all day outside in grandma and grandpa's newly landscaped backyard. We played with toys, read books, and even took naps outside. It was glorious. Ethan threw up several times that night and we had to redose a few medications. Mom started playing around with the feeding and med schedule to see if that would help him stop throwing up.
